May is designated as Asian Heritage Month in Canada.  It is a month-long celebration that focuses not only on the long and rich history of Asian Canadians but also acknowledges their many contributions to Canadian society on social, economic, cultural, political and other levels.

As the largest continent on the planet, Asia is home to many cultures, languages and ethnicities.  Unfortunately, they are often mistakenly grouped together as a few dominant cultures when talked about in the West.

OPSEU SEFPO Coalition of Racialized Workers plans to host an Asian Heritage Month 2024 event in the evening of Thursday May 23,2024 at Head Office 155 Lesmill Road 5pm-10pm. This event offers members an opportunity to actively partake in the opportunity to learn about the history of people of Tamil and Rohingya origin. You will be amazed by cultural performances, intrigued by a discussion of two panelists from the Tamil Workers Network and the Rohingya Human Rights Network and of course your appetite satisfied with light refreshments.

This will be a hybrid event. To ensure adequate arrangements are made please send RSVP now.

You can RSVP by sending an email to equity@opseu.org (please indicate if you will be attending in-person, or virtually).
