In case you missed it: OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer Laurie Nancekivell, Chair of the OPSEU/SEFPO Hospital Professionals Division Sara Labelle, and NDP Health Critic and MPP for Nickel Belt France Gélinas held a news conference at Queen’s Park last Wednesday to speak out about the staffing crisis in hospitals.
The union called on the Ford government to take immediate action within the public hospital system to resolve the mass exodus of hospital professionals, reduce the long wait times, and prevent emergency room closures, rather than creating a two-tiered health care system which would only worsen staff shortages and patient outcomes.
CBC featured the news conference on their website, and journalists from the Globe and Mail, Canadian Press, CBC Radio Canada and CityTV were present to ask questions.
