Actions planned to back demands for better wages and good jobs in developmental services

OPSEU members who provide services and support for people with intellectual disabilities are planning actions across the province this week to push employers for significant  wage and job improvements. OPSEU is one of two unions meeting Dec. 11 and 12  with employers at a provincial table.

OPSEU represents about 12,000 DS workers. More than two-thirds are part-time, temporary, or on contract.  Many of them earn less than the $14 an hour.

Members have planned workplace actions and information pickets. Details to follow.

Mobilizers are available to help others who still want to take even small actions such as: wear blue, decorate with blue balloons, wear stickers, hang posters, or distribute leaflets.  See tools and resources on this page for downloadable files.
