Since 2018, when the Ford government came into power, per capita spending for children, community and social services and postsecondary education has shrunk each year. In 2024, FAO estimated that the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services programs were underfunded by $3.7 billion.

In this time, demand for our services has increased and our wages have not kept up, after being capped by Ford’s Bill 124 for years.

We deserve to be paid fairly for our work. Community services and the workers who keep them going are Worth Fighting For!

Stop the cuts!

Children, Community and Social Services funding cut by $200 million since 2018.

In 2019, Legal Aid Ontario funding was cut by $133 million – or 30% — without warning.

In 2024, FAO estimated our programs were underfunded by $3.7 billion.

What's at stake

Our workplaces have been chronically underfunded and our wages have been suppressed by the Ford government.

The government has repeatedly failed to provide meaningful funding improvements, leaving us to navigate the increasing challenges our communities face without adequate support.

After Bill 124, the Ford government’s wage suppression bill, got overturned, our counterparts in numerous other public sectors who were affected received retroactive wage increases. We did not.

We are paid significantly less than our counterparts, making it hard to attract new workers or keep experienced ones. This staffing crisis limits our ability to provide high quality, effective and safe public services.

We are campaigning for better funding NOW. Without this, we face the risk of program closures, labour disruptions, and reduction in the quality of services that our communities heavily rely on.

The time to act is NOW.

Workers, our services, and the people of Ontario are worth fighting for!
