Frequently Asked Questions
A Frequently Asked Questions document will be available soon on the OPS Unified website and the Linktree.Unified for … Bargaining in Solidarity!
We want to take a moment to highlight what being part of your union truly means, and why the involvement of every OPS Unified member is so important to our negotiations.A union is not just a group of staff that negotiates contracts – it’s us, the members. We are the union. And when we come together in solidarity to demand better for OPS Unified, we gain the power to collectively bargain for what we deserve. While there are many ways a union can operate, our bargaining team has chosen to operate from an organizing model. This approach puts members at the center of the actions we take as we progress through bargaining. Meaning that OPS Unified members, using our collective voice, steer the ship with the support of leadership and staff as needed. This approach also means that the bargaining team is only as strong as the members who are actively participating. Some examples of the organizing approach in action by OPS Unified:- 7 Area Coordinating Groups and associated Signal chats. Not just to discuss issues, but to actively plan collective actions throughout the province.
- Monthly Zoom Table Talk Thursday meetings. These are open to all OPS Unified members to get vital bargaining updates, and to ask their own questions to help guide the process.
- OPS Unified has regional mobilizers out in the field doing workplace mapping, leader (Unifier) identification, and having one-on-one conversations with members, which is the essence of organizing.
