Workers at Kennedy House have reached a tentative agreement in advance of the lockout deadline of 12:01 am on May 8.
Facing an employer that threatened to lock them out unless they accepted the terms imposed on them, OPSEU/SEFPO Local 361 members stood up to their employer, rejected a forced last offer, and secured a tentative agreement.
Local 361, Kennedy House, which is made up of 75 per cent racialized workers, fought for better worker’s rights language and improved health and safety. Every worker deserves to come home safe and this local made that a priority.
The tentative agreement includes increased protections against contracting out, increased representation on the negotiating committee, improved health and safety language, and the creation of up to six new full-time positions to be filled by current part-time workers. The agreement also contains increases to vision care, and an across-the-board wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2026.
