If you’re navigating the world with a non-apparent/invisible disability, you aren’t alone – and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
Join us for an interactive and practical hybrid workshop designed to help you stand up for yourself and/or your members and navigate the systems in a collaborative space where you can build a network of support.
We will explore what non-apparent disabilities are, how they may show up in everyday life, and the ways they can affect participation in the workplace. We’ll also consider how we can contribute to more inclusive, supportive environments.
In this workshop, you can expect a mix of learning and experience. Some activities may challenge how you think about ability, effort, and performance; other conversations may offer moments of insight, empathy, or even discomfort—and that’s okay. Growth often begins in those moments.
Whether you identify as having an invisible disability, represent members who do, or simply want to be a better ally, this session is for you!
We will delve into disclosure, strategies to handle stigma and ableism, and explore how to identify, request and implement workplace accommodations.
Not every challenge at work is easy to see, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be supported.
We encourage Region 5 members to join us in person for this interactive DRC workshop and to benefit from support and solidarity. This is our pilot workshop and we hope to bring it in person to other OPSEU/SEFPO regions.
