2025 Caribbean Village
The Caribbean Village at the 50th Annual Carrousel of Nations was a resounding success thanks in part to the generous support of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/SEFPO).Held over two weekends (June 13–15 and June 20–22), the Caribbean Village celebrated Caribbean culture, music, food, and heritage with the Windsor- Essex community.
Caribbean Culture on Display
The Caribbean Village featured a diverse array of entertainment that included international, regional, and local acts. The headline performance came from acclaimed Jamaican reggae artist Hezron, alongside performances that showcased the richness and diversity of Caribbean music, dance, and culture.
Event Impact
This year marked a record-breaking turnout, with approximately 7,000 people attending over the two weekends — making it one of the best-received Caribbean Villages in its history.A total of 70 volunteers worked diligently to make the event run smoothly, including three OPSEU volunteers who played an active role in supporting the food station, bar station and visitor experience.The event featured ten local vendors, bringing together entrepreneurs from across the region. These vendors generated approximately $7,000 in sales over the two weekends, providing a significant economic boost to local businesses and reinforcing the Caribbean Village as an important economic and cultural contributor to the area.
OPSEU/SEFPO Support & Recognition
OPSEU/SEFPO’s generous support was vital in making this year’s Caribbean Village a reality. Your contribution enabled the Windsor-Essex Caribbean Association (WECA) to provide a space where Caribbean heritage could be celebrated and shared with the wider Windsor-Essex community, aligning with the Carrousel of Nations’ 50th- anniversary celebration.OPSEU/SEFPO’s support was prominently acknowledged throughout the event, including mentions on our website, social media posts, and promotional materials, as well as on-site through flyers, stage-area banners, venue signage, and t-shirts worn by OPSEU/SEFPO volunteers.
