Join a working group: College Part-Time Support Staff

Let’s keep building our union! We’ve established three new working groups – which will be made up of members like you – to continue the important work of building our power as part-time college support staff in between rounds of bargaining.

Here’s how to get involved:

Equity working group: Are you passionate about pushing forward equity issues in your workplace and beyond? The Equity working group will take on looking at gaps and barriers in the language of our collective agreement and OPSEU policies to develop recommendations for improvement. The priority will be given to members who identify with an equity seeking group.

Education working group: Are you interested in organizing educational meetings to address common workplace issues? This working group will take on education projects – which could include onboarding for new members and stewards, or taking a deeper dive into existing parts of our collective agreement (like the layoff procedure).

Mobilizing working group: Are you ready to talk to other part-time members and get them involved? Building our strength as a union is an ongoing process – and that starts with engaging as many members as possible. This could look like planning creative and strategic ways to make sure new members are signed up, recruit new stewards and build up leadership in our division.

The working groups will be meeting on an as needed basis, and all who are interested are encouraged to get in touch!
