From the evening of Monday, April 13 to Tuesday, April 14, 2026, we mark Yom HaShoah, observed in Jewish communities around the world as a day of remembrance for the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, along with the millions of others persecuted and killed by the Nazi regime.
In Ontario and across Canada, Yom HaShoah is recognized through community, educational, and institutional commemorations that honour the victims and survivors, and preserve the memory of this history.
Yom HaShoah stands as a reminder of the consequences of antisemitism, hatred, and indifference. It reinforces the importance of education, remembrance, and continued vigilance in the face of all forms of discrimination.
Yom HaShoah is also a reminder that antisemitism is not confined to the past. It underscores the importance of confronting hatred, preserving historical truth, and ensuring that such atrocities are never forgotten or repeated.
As trade unionists, we are committed to upholding dignity, equity, and respect, and to building inclusive workplaces and communities free from hate.
We encourage members to take a moment to reflect, learn, and remember.
May the memory of the victims be a blessing.
