As your HPD Central Bargaining Team, we have been hearing from several members inquiring about the status of our negotiations, and we are writing to provide an update as to where things currently stand.
In March of this year, the team concluded our submissions and evidence hearings for interest arbitration with arbitrator Colin Johnston, hoping that a central award would be issued ahead of our pre bargaining conference on June 9 and 10 of next week. At this moment, no award has been finalized, and the team does not anticipate the award will be issued in time for next week. While we will not have a final decision to discuss, it is important to keep the timing of our pre bargaining conference on track so that we can move forward with scheduling local demand sets and get to the table next year.
While we know this timeline is frustrating, we are hopeful that the arbitrator is taking the time to properly consider the information and proposals presented and that a final decision will be positive for HPD members. In the meantime, we will remind members that under our central agreement, there is a retroactive payment of awarded wage increases. Meaning once the final award is issued, HPD members in central bargaining will receive any retroactive wage increases outlined by Colin Johnston.
We will continue to keep members updated as information becomes available and want to thank members for their continued patience.
