Recent changes to the Provincial Offences Act (POA), will now give Ministry of Labour (MOL) inspectors an added tool at their disposal to assist with their enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and send a message to employers found in violation of the OHSA that goes directly to their ever fattening wallets.
MOL Inspectors now have the ability to issue tickets under the POA to employers who are found to be in violation of some very key sections of the OHSA – including several parts of the workplace violence sections of the OHSA.
These new amendments introduce set fine amounts for violations of the OHSA of up to $550 per offence.
