OPSEU/SEFPO recently completed its third Local Leadership Orientation of the year. Local presidents and first vice-presidents worked together to strengthen their leadership skills, build local capacity, network, and explore the tools and resources available to support their work.
They were greeted and sworn in by President JP Hornick and First Vice-President/Treasurer Laurie Brown (formerly Nancekivell) on the first day of training.
Local Leadership Orientation provides an opportunity for local leaders to further understand their roles and responsibilities, share knowledge and create strategies that can be brought back to their locals. Through a series of workshops hosted by the education unit as well as staff presentations from different departments across the organization, participants explored ways to support members and increase member engagement.
By connecting local leaders with the people, knowledge and tools available throughout OPSEU/SEFPO, the orientation reinforces the importance of organizing and collaboration and equips leaders with resources to support members and strengthen their locals.
