OPSEU/SEFPO’s Executive Board and Provincial Young Workers Committee (PYC) stand in solidarity with striking Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) safety inspectors, jointly donating $10,000 to the #StrikeForSafety.
The joint donation began as a fundraising initiative at the PYC’s annual conference in August, raising $537.00 in a raffle draw ahead of joining OPSEU/SEFPO Local 546 TSSA inspectors on the picket line at the end of the conference.
Inspired by this show of solidarity, OPSEU/SEFPO’s Executive Board have passed a motion to match and increase the donation to $10,000, with the funds being drawn from the Contingency Fund.
Safety inspectors working for TSSA deserve a collective agreement that reflects the skill and dedication they show to public safety, and they deserve to be treated with respect by their employer. OPSEU/SEFPO’s Board and PYC support the 170 safety inspectors in the fight for a fair collective agreement that will protect these workers for years to come, and we hope that this donation helps to keep their fight going.
In solidarity,
