“Together, we’ve got this,” is the motto of the College Support Joint Classification Committee (JCC). The team has been working with OPSEU staff from the Education Unit to prepare a brand-new Job Evaluation course. The three-day training is rolling out across the province, and was launched with Regions 1 and 2 at OPSEU’s London office in February.
“I want to personally congratulate our members on the College Support JCC, and all of the College Support members who are stepping up to do this training,” said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “We are building an army of College Support activists, with people on the ground at every college who are trained to handle classification grievances.”
JCC Chair, Naz Binck, co-facilitated the training together with JCC members Dana Copeland, Bob Holder, and Megan Carter as well as Dan Brisson. Executive Board Members Laurie Nancekivell, Jennifer Van Zetten and Drew Finucaine stopped by to congratulate the participants on being part of such an important undertaking.
“Our stewards will be armed with the knowledge, tools and confidence they need to represent members,” said Binck.
The course will take place in Region 5 in March, followed by Regions 3 and 4 in April, and then Regions 6 and 7 in June. A French language session is also planned.
“We have an amazing team of College Support activists,” said Binck. “And we know that together, we’ve got this.”
