A number of media outlets are reporting on OPSEU’s demand that the LCBO be allowed to compete for cannabis store licences.
The Ford government announced recently that another 42 private companies have been approved to apply to open and run the province’s next round of cannabis stores — OPSEU says the LCBO should also be allowed to compete.
Calling the current privatized cannabis-sales system “an utter disaster,” Thomas said in the publication Narcity. “It’s time to let the LCBO do what it does best: sell a controlled substance in a responsible way that ensures maximum revenue for our vital public services.”
“Competition should be a two-way street, but I suspect that’s the last thing [Premier Doug Ford] wants to promote,” said Thomas in a tweet republished by 895 The Lake. “Letting the LCBO and its frontline wrkrs show what they can do would just make his private sector pals look way worse than they already do.”Liquor Board Employees
