In the face of a recent integration of South Cochrane Addiction Services Inc., and the Minto Counselling Centre with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Cochrane-Timiskaming, 145 mental health workers have chosen OPSEU/SEFPO as their official union!
“We look forward to representing new and existing OPSEU/SEFPO members at the newly merged Canadian Mental Health Association Cochrane-Timiskaming Branch Local 631, and we look forward to talking to all the workers at the three sites about our great union,” said President JP Hornick.
There are 234 members in the composite local, which includes the Children’s Treatment Centre and the Timmins LifeLab. CMHA workers are comprised of Mental Health and Addictions Workers, Residential Support Workers, Peer Support Worker, and specialty Programs such as Developmental Disability, Early Intervention in Psychosis, Outreach, Court Support, Assertive Community Treatment, and Primary Care.
Former Minto Counselling employees are now part of a larger OPSEU/SEFPO bargaining unit which offers more opportunities to their members. South Cochrane Addictions Services members were formerly non-unionized – they had not received significant raises in years and make at least $7 less than CMHA workers who do the same job.
OPSEU/SEFPO is ready to fight with you for transparency, equality and pay equity.
