Laurie has spent her union life making sure voices are heard and resources reflect the needs of members on the front lines. From her early days as a Young Worker leader to her role today as First Vice-President/Treasurer of OPSEU/SEFPO, Laurie has shown that leadership can be transparent, inclusive, and people-focused.
Laurie was elected First Vice-President/Treasurer in April 2022 after pledging to ensure that integrity, knowledge, and inclusion will be at the heart of all of the union’s financial decisions.
Through her Activist Budget process, Laurie has made it possible for equity, sector, and other member groups to set their priorities — and see resources follow. By streamlining systems and removing barriers, she has created clarity and trust in how members’ money is managed.
