On January 21, OPSEU/SEFPO, the Ontario Federation of Labour, and CUPE Ontario held a press conference at Queen’s Park calling on the Ford government to take immediate action to resolve outstanding Bill 124 remedies after years of unlawful wage suppression and delay.
Bill 124 was ruled unconstitutional by the courts, yet thousands of workers still have not received what they are owed. These workers provide critical services in our communities, and they deserve to catch up.
OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick spoke alongside Candice Callender, an OPSEU/SEFPO member and developmental services worker currently on strike at Central West Specialized Developmental Services.
OPSEU/SEFPO is ready to use every measure available to secure remedy for these workers. That includes legal action – and coordinated labour action. The Ford government must come to the table and resolve this now, before we take this fight back to the courts.
