Since May of this year, your HPD Central Bargaining Team has been through many stages of bargaining with the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), pushing for solutions to the issues impacting hospital professionals across the province.
Despite the team’s dedication and perseverance – and with repeated attempts to negotiate a fair contract – we have been unable to reach a deal with the OHA through negotiations, conciliation, and mediation.
As a result, the team made the decision to take unresolved monetary and non-monetary items to interest arbitration and have been preparing for this process since July.
The Bargaining Team has made it clear that we are ready and motivated to get to interest arbitration, only to be met with stall tactics from the OHA who have outright refused to agree to our proposed arbitrators yet failed to suggest alternatives.
As of this update, we are still waiting for an arbitrator to be agreed upon and dates for interest arbitration to be scheduled. We are investigating all our options and reaching out directly to the OHA in the hopes that we can identify a path forward.
We will continue to keep members updated as news regarding the arbitration process becomes available.
In Solidarity,
Your HPD Bargaining Team and Divisional Executive
