Local 336 members vote to ratify new collective agreement
OPSEU/SEFPO is extending congratulations to the workers and bargaining team at Local 336 who fought hard for a fair deal in mediation and avoided a strike action today by ratifying their new collective agreement. The staff of Access Community Services have offered compassionate care for adults with developmental disabilities throughout the pandemic and long beforehand. Capping the wages of frontline workers whose contributions protect and enhance the lives of vulnerable people is unacceptable. Local 336’s new collective agreement, which includes fairer wages, reflects this. The ratified deal includes an $0.18 increase in first year, plus the inclusion of the $3 Bill 106 increase into the wage grid. It includes $0.30 in the second and third year. “The diligent workers in this organization have gone above and beyond their duties throughout the pandemic – risking their own health to provide the care needed to the people they support,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick. “Despite facing an intransigent employer, the members of Local 336 have stood their ground during the bargaining process, and they have achieved a deal they can be proud of.” “Our team demanded fairness at the table, and we are proud of what we accomplished,” said Ashley Andrus, bargaining team chair. “This will set us on a positive path forward for many years to come.” “Congratulations to the bargaining team and all Local 336 members on this hard-fought win,” said Hornick.
