Hospital professionals continue to give a huge vote of confidence to OPSEU/SEFPO.
Cardiovascular perfusionists who work at Toronto’s University Health Network were 100 per cent in favour of joining OPSEU/SEFPO in a vote conducted by the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
The perfusionists, who operate heart and lung machines during complex medical procedures, are a welcome addition to OPSEU/SEFPO, says Sara Labelle, chair of the Hospital Professionals Division.
“These highly skilled professionals are vital to any serious operation, without the expertise of perfusionists, cardiovascular or other complex medical procedures simply don’t happen, said Sara Labelle. “We’re delighted to welcome them to OPSEU/SEFPO, which is the best union to fight for better funding and working conditions.”
Earlier this month, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Physiotherapy Assistants across all three Halton Healthcare Services hospital sites overwhelmingly chose OPSEU/SEFPO to represent them.
OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick is pleased to see the union continue to grow.
“I am thrilled to see that more and more workers want to join us and recognize that we are fighting and getting wins at the bargaining table,” said Hornick. “Workers are building their power, with every new voice we get closer to bigger and better wins and I look forward to seeing what we will achieve together.”
