In a powerful show of solidarity, striking workers from community, health and social services descended on Ford Fest today to send a clear message to Premier Ford:
Do the right thing: fund our services, deliver stolen wages and end the strike!
Over 850 workers turned out to disrupt the event after over four weeks of being dodged by Ford and his MPPs. Despite repeated meeting denials and closed offices, workers refused to back down. And today, when Ford looked out from his stage, he was met by a sea of striking workers in purple shirts – impossible to ignore, refusing to back down from the fight for the future of the services our communities rely on.
Workers on strike support some of the most vulnerable people across the province. They help children in crisis, people with disabilities, women fleeing violence and countless others every day. They see the devastating impacts of Fords underfunding – and they know better than anyone what it will take to fix it.
Ford and his government have the power to end this strike, to support the workers who care for people in every community, to do the right thing.
