The wait is over! The OPSEU/SEFPO OPS Unified Pay Equity Joint Working Group is excited to announce the official mass launch of the Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ)!
All OPS Unified members (with 6+ months in their current role) will receive a personalized PIQ link on May 11 and will be entitled to three (3) hours of paid time, during work hours to complete the PIQ.
Your participation is important!
Both parties acknowledge the Employer’s legal obligation to ensure pay equity is maintained in the workplace and recognize that the current classification system is grossly outdated and that current job descriptions no longer accurately reflect the work performed in the bargaining unit.
While participation in the PIQ is not mandatory, the Union team has advocated on behalf of our membership to have your voice included in the process. After all, who better to provide feedback on the duties and responsibilities of each job than the folks on the ground who are actually doing the work on a daily basis? If you don’t complete a PIQ, you are essentially letting others in your job class represent what your work looks like. Participating ensures the Employer has an accurate picture of your daily duties, which is critical for ensuring fair pay and updated job descriptions.
Therefore we strongly encourage all members to participate and to submit a PIQ!!
More information can be found below.
If you have any questions at all feel free to reach out to the OPSEU/SEFPO Unified Project team at [email protected]. Please allow us a reasonable amount of time to respond, given the number of inquiries we are likely to receive.
Q and As about the OPS Unified Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ) Mass Launch – SPRING 2026
What exactly is a PIQ?
The Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ) is a tool used to gather detailed information about your job. It captures the specific skills, effort, responsibilities, and working conditions required for your role today, rather than what may be listed in an outdated job description.
Members will complete the PIQ on a web-based application called Qualtrics (the same technology used for the Employer’s employee engagement surveys).
The PIQ can be accessed from anywhere. No VPN is required.
All Personalized PIQ Links will be sent out to members on May 11
If you do not receive a PIQ Link or experience technical difficulties, please reach out to the employer project team at [email protected]
Am I eligible to complete a PIQ?
This mass launch is for all OPS Unified members who:
- Have been in their current position for more than 6 months.
- Have not yet completed a PIQ during previous pilot phases.
What is the deadline for submission?
Once you receive your unique link via the Qualtrics web application (on May 11), you have 3 weeks to submit it. The PIQ Completion deadline is June 2, 2026.
How will my information be used?
Your feedback serves two main goals:
- Pay Equity: Ensuring all job classes are evaluated and compensated fairly under provincial legislation.
- Job Modernization: The Employer has committed to developing new job descriptions that actually reflect the work being performed on the ground.
Will my manager see my specific answers?
Completed PIQ responses are sent to your manager to confirm receipt and provide additional feedback. Managers are not permitted to change or alter your responses. For the final job class analysis, results are rolled up into confidential aggregate data.
