At OPSEU, we have a longstanding history of supporting Ontario’s food banks and working with our partners to end poverty and hunger in communities across the province.

That’s why in 2018, OPSEU proudly donated $20,000 to help Feed Ontario – the equivalent of 60,000 nutritious meals for people facing hunger.
Feed Ontario – previously known as the Ontario Association of Food Banks – serves a network of 130 food banks in every corner of the province, serving more than 500,000 Ontarians in need every year.
OPSEU’s contributions also support other Feed Ontario initiatives like:
- The 2018 conference on affordable housing and emergency preparedness
- The Breakfast with Members of Provincial Parliament event at Queen’s Park, which brought 26 food bank representatives to meet with more than 40 MPPs
- The affordable housing postcard campaign for food bank clients to fill in and send to their MPPs
“As a social justice union, OPSEU believes in fairness and equity, and that means working together to end poverty and hunger in Ontario. We take our commitment seriously and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Feed Ontario.”
Warren (Smokey) Thomas
OPSEU President
“No Ontarian should go hungry; we live in a wealthy province and country. We can absolutely afford to do better and we must demand it from our government. We must care for one another so that Ontario is the best place to live, work and raise a family for the many, not just the few.”
Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida
