This Father’s Day, join OPSEU/SEFPO as we celebrate dads across the province.
We want to show our appreciation to the fathers and father figures who’ve helped to shape us, our families, and our communities.
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, fathers across the province have made sacrifices and risked their lives on the front lines of the pandemic to help support their families and keep Ontario running. Some fathers, like mothers, guardians and caretakers across Ontario have had to work from home while taking on added duties, like balancing work with childcare and homeschooling.
At OPSEU/SEFPO, we are proud to represent thousands of these real-life heroes. We understand the challenges and anxieties that fathers faced this past year; their concern about the health and safety of their children, and their older loved ones too – especially those living in long-term care homes, the epicentre of the COVID-19 crisis.
Father’s Day is also a bittersweet, and often difficult, time for those whose fathers, grandfathers, or father figures have passed away. Today, we reflect and remember them well.
With provincial lockdowns and strict physical distancing rules in place, many fathers have struggled with isolation and mental health issues. But, as we turn the corner on this pandemic, we hope this will be our last Father’s Day in pandemic mode. We look forward to a better, brighter year ahead.
Until then, we encourage everyone to reach out to the caring men who have made a difference in their lives with love and gratitude this Father’s Day.
In Solidarity,
