Message from OPSEU/SEFPO’s President and First Vice President/Treasurer
Click here to download a PDF of the bulletin. As Ontario continues through our fourth wave of this pandemic, access to a safe and reliable blood supply is key to saving lives. OPSEU/SEFPO members working at CBS are instrumental to protecting the health of Ontarians every day, and you deserve to be recognized and respected for the value you provide every day. Throughout the entire bargaining process, OPSEU/SEFPO’s 180,000 members and 300+ staff are standing in solidarity with you. You are in capable hands with your experienced bargaining team, and we will continue to provide every resource needed to achieve a strong agreement. In solidarity, Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU/SEFPO President Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida, OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer
Message from Bargaining Team Chair
Our members give 100% to ensure that Ontario’s blood supply is safe and every donor that walks through our doors is well cared for. We deserve a collective agreement that reflects our skill, safety and value, and the bargaining team is dedicated to achieving that. The support that we have received from members has been incredible. Your confidence in us means a lot, and gives us that extra strength to keep pushing forward during each bargaining meeting. We appreciate your solidarity, and we will keep fighting for the respect that all CBS workers deserve. Sincerely, Geoff Cain, Bargaining Team Chair
Bargaining Update
We have now had seven meetings with the Employer, which included several key discussions on Non-Monetary items. During these discussions, your bargaining team has been focused on our goal of respect and continued to build momentum on this topic, to ensure all members are respected for the work that we do. The discussions have been difficult at times and we are holding strong to the mandate that members have provided us with. We have now tabled our Monetary Demands. Monetary discussions will continue at our next set of meetings, scheduled for September 8, 9, and 29. Thank you to all members for your support. We will provide a further update after our September meetings.
Solidarity Actions
By now, all members should have received ‘Respect’ solidarity lanyards. If you haven’t received yours, please contact your Local president. Wear your lanyards to show your support for CBS workers to be treated with the respect we all deserve, and be sure to post your pictures to our sector’s Facebook page: facebook.com/CBSworkers Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact any one of us on the bargaining team. As always, we’re grateful to members for everything that you do to support the team during bargaining! In Solidarity, Geoff Cain (Local 160): Bargaining Team Chair
