Worth Fighting For Strike Mandate Votes: YES votes growing every day!
October 31, 2025
Workers in the Worth Fighting For campaign are escalating their campaign and demonstrating they are organized and ready to fight for fair pay and long-term funding for the services they provide. To date, 46 units have voted YES in their strike mandate votes, joining more units who are in the process of scheduling strike mandate votes as part of the coordinated bargaining campaign. They are showing they are united as they take their fight to their collective funder – the Ford government – and that they are willing to take coordinated action unless the province steps up.Workers in community and social services are among the lowest paid workers in the public service. Many workers have been forced to moonlight in second or even third jobs, turn to foodbanks, or rack up debt. In addition to this, community and social services workers were left out of receiving backpay for the years of wages that were stolen from them as the result of Ford’s now-repealed Bill 124.Together, they are fighting for fair wages and long-term funding. This fight comes after years of their employers not receiving enough funding from the government to provide wage increases that keep up with the cost-of-living. When meaningful wage increases are achieved, they are often followed by layoffs because of underfunding. Now, these workers are showing up in droves and voting YES, taking a stand for themselves and for the clients and individuals they support! Watch a video message from OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick.
