Updates from Interest Arbitration and Next Steps

This past weekend, your HPD Bargaining Team participated in interest arbitration with arbitrator Colin Johnston. During these dates, the arbitrator heard submissions and evidence from the union and the employer on items still outstanding from negotiations.

We heard from the Ontario Hospital Association as they painted a bleak picture of the future of Ontario hospitals and doubled down in their demands that we do more with less.

But we know this is not how we fix health care.

We fought back against these submissions and stood firm in our positions – bringing forward sound arguments and evidence to support the long-term solutions we know will help ease the recruitment and retention crisis facing Hospital Professionals every day.

Now that both parties have submitted their evidence and proposals, arbitrator Colin Johnston will continue to review the materials and will then issue a final and binding decision on outstanding items in the coming months.
