OPSEU Liquor Board Employees Division

Health and safety of our members is job one

We have been informed that one of our members has tested positive with COVID-19.

On behalf of the Liquor Board Employees Divisional Executive, we wish a speedy recovery and will continue to support all of our members on the front lines of this unprecedented pandemic.

We continue to work with the Employer to address the health and safety of all members and are actively following the recommendations of public health authorities.

Since the outbreak we have been in constant contact with the LCBO almost daily.

We have persuaded the LCBO to install plexiglass barriers at checkout counters. The number of customers in some stores at any one time will be limited, and security is being provided to enforce that.

The LCBO has also agreed to our suggestion to allow employees to take breaks every 30 minutes for handwashing, and more hand sanitizer and other disinfecting supplies are being brought in.

Stores are also putting tape on the floor to ensure customers have social distancing space from both each other and LCBO staff.  Every other cash register is being closed to ensure customer lines are farther apart.

We will lobby for any measure that will ensure your safety.  Once again, if you have concerns, please contact either your Local President, who has direct contact with your Staff Rep, or a member of your divisional executive, who are here to help you.

It is hard to put into words how much admiration we have for your efforts to serve Ontarians. We are all in this together.
