a) Reminder that due to logistic issues at OPSEU notices will not be sent out by mail except to new members please share info with Friends. Please check our Facebook page and the OPSEU web site for information.

  1. New business

Committees you may be interested in participating in:

a) Political Action Committee – whose role will be working with our union lobby government, mobilizing, educating and empowering the membership on issues of   healthcare, long term care, home care, pharmacare, pensions, affordable housing and other issues that affect our membership.

b) There’s no Planet B Committee – will advise the membership on how they can make a difference protecting our planet from being polluted and climate change. Responsibilities include recommending speakers, planning an activity/event.

c) Social Justice Committee – inform and mobilize the membership regarding issues of social justice, poverty, homelessness etc. Will include coordinating the volunteering at the RFDA.

d) Social Committee – Social Committee that will organize social activities outside our two regional meetings a year. Coffee Cards and Conversation will be part of this committee’s work as well as sharing activities for seniors in our communities.

e) Flying Picket Squad – selected group of members that are interested in supporting all OPS locals with demonstrations, strike lines etc. The chair/vice chair will access this list as requested.

Region 7 Retirees and Friends continue to volunteer at the RFDA first and third Fridays of the month at 10 am, 570 Syndicate Ave S, in the warehouse.

Coffee, cards, and Conversation has started again as of September and is the last Tuesday of every month at the Thunder Bay Membership Center.
