Following is a statement by Ontario Public Service Employees Union President Warren (Smokey) Thomas:

Today (Nov. 12) marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of the fiasco known as the Social Assistance Management System (SAMS).

Your Corrections Bargaining Team returned to negotiations with the Employer on November 7 and 8. Over the two days, your bargaining team took many items off the table in an attempt to reach a fair tentative agreement.

October 29, 2015

(TORONTO) – Members of the OPS’s Central division has voted 67 per cent in favour of the tentative agreement recently reached between OPSEU and the Ontario government, while the Unified division has approved it by 78 per cent. The ratification vote was held on October 27, 28 and 29.

Voting at the Downtown Double Tree Hotel on Chestnut Street was suspended for 45 minutes this morning.

A WW 2 shell was found in the construction site next door, and police had initially cordoned off the area. The barricade has been moved to allow access from Dundas and Chestnut.
