Workers with the Canadian Mental Health Association in Leeds-Grenville have unanimously voted to join OPSEU following a representation vote in Brockville last week.

The high turnout for the strike vote gives the Bargaining Team a strong mandate. The biggest issues are achieving a fair wage increase, improving the language around harassment and bullying, resolving scheduling issues, and that there be no clawbacks.

The union representing employees at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Penetanguishene has suspended new contract talks and applied for conciliation because of safety concerns there.

The bargaining team representing 1,200 employees at Waypoint made the decision to suspend talks after the employer refused to consider union proposals on health and safety on June 24.
