OPSEU is deeply disappointed to learn the Progressive Conservative government has terminated the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Task Force. The Task Force was ordered by Arbitrator William Kaplan in his award following last year’s College Faculty strike.

Durham College has promised to take immediate action regarding their policy banning political activity of employees following receipt of a letter from OPSEU to Durham College President, Don Lovisa, on May 18, 2018.

OPSEU calls on college to scrap policy restricting political activity "inside and outside the workplace."

The union representing Durham College employees says the school is attempting to ban its staff from taking part in political activity — both inside and outside the workplace.

OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas is calling on Durham College to abandon an anti-democratic policy of barring its employees from engaging in political activities.

Thomas’s call on Friday came on the same day that Northumberland County backed off of a similar policy.
