Youth mental health workers at the Maryvale Adolescent and Family Services voted overwhelmingly to join OPSEU/SEFPO. These workers serve the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent area.
They form a multi-disciplinary treatment team of psychologists, social workers, child and youth workers, nurses, and therapists.
“We’re thrilled to welcome new youth mental health workers to OPSEU/SEFPO!” said OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick. “These workers provide crucial services to youth in Windsor and surrounding areas. They deserve a voice in the workplace and accountability from their employer.”
We’re facing a youth mental health crisis in Ontario. These workers have an immeasurable impact on the clients they support. They deserve fair wages that keep up with cost-of-living, job security, and an organization that works for the community they serve.
With the Ford government’s plans to decimate public services, youth mental health care is also on the chopping block. OPSEU/SEFPO is ready to fight to ensure well-funded, robust mental health care services are accessible to all young people across Ontario. A key part of that fight is ensuring youth mental health care workers, like those at Maryvale, receive the collective agreement they deserve so they can support their clients without worrying about making ends meet.
