Welcome new OPSEU/SEFPO members from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)

This week the staff at the Residence Life & Education Department at the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) voted overwhelmingly to join the Ontario Public Service Employees Union/Syndicat des employés de la fonction publique de l’Ontario (OPSEU/SEFPO).

The new bargaining unit includes approximately 42 staff who work as Academic Links, Academic Link Leads, Residence Advisors, Community Leaders and Graduate Advisors. They are based out of three different locations on the downtown TMU Toronto campus.

OPSEU/SEFPO also represents a bargaining unit of full-time support staff at TMU in OPSEU/SEFPO Local 596.

“On behalf of all 180,000 of our members across Ontario, our Executive Board and staff, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new members from the Residence Life & Education Department at the Toronto Metropolitan University,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick. “Workers are stronger when we work together and we look forward to supporting you to negotiate your first collective agreement.”
