On January 19, 2019, we’re going to remind Premier Ford that women are not going back. We are organized. We are mobilizing.
Two years after the historic Women’s March on Washington, women of all backgrounds, abilities, genders and orientations will march to end Premier Ford’s attacks on women. Recently announced cuts include roll-back of minimum wage increases, removal of equal pay protections, cuts to Ontario Works and ODSP programs and millions in dollars in specialized funding slashed—programs that provide crucial support to women, people with disabilities, racialized and Indigenous women and youth.
Women’s marches will be happening across Ontario as part of a global coalition of sister marches that continue to mobilize on issues that affect women. We continue to march to combat issues like elimination of public sector jobs and services that women rely on, violence against women, attacks on racialized and indigenous communities, migrant and precarious workers, and discrimination against refugees and workers without legal status. Women march on!

There is still so much work to do to protect and advance the rights of women, and the rights of all vulnerable citizens in our country. This is an INCLUSIVE march, and EVERYONE who supports the march’s goals are welcome to join this peaceful gathering!

On January 19th, Women March On: Toronto invites you to join together in marching, resisting and making it clear to policymakers that we will not accept rollbacks and attacks on our communities.
This march, and this movement, began in solidarity with our sisters in the United States as they demonstrated their resistance to their country’s new leadership. We march to bring awareness to the changes needed to build a safer, more inclusive Toronto. We are doing it again this year.
Our lineup of speakers will address the many egregious cutbacks to government funding and civil rights recently made by our provincial government.
