Underfunding health care hits northerners hard

Wynne government underfunding of health care services hits northern Ontarians extra hard, says Jeff Arbus, OPSEU Region 6 Regional Vice-President. “More and more people feel punished for simply living and working in the north,” Arbus told the legislature’s budget committee in Sault Ste. Marie January 21. “The north is especially hard hit [by cuts]. We have rural areas and challenging distances and inclement weather.” Watch an interview with Jeff Arbus here.

OPSEU members joined Ontario Health Coalition rallies this week in the communities where the pre-budget consultations were held. The final rally is Monday, February 1 at 12:00 noon at Queen’s Park in Toronto.
