OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas and Unifor National President Jerry Dias appeared Monday on 570 News, Zoomer Radio and Global AM980 on their recent announcement to join forces to block Doug Ford’s “destructive” agenda.

The union leaders touched on a number of issues but focused on the Premier’s shocking surrender in the face of GM’s closure of its Oshawa plant, as well as his torpedoing of basic worker rights and a living minimum wage through Bill 47.

Thomas underscored that OPSEU was ready to sit down with the Premier and work towards solutions that would benefit the people of Ontario and lift the economy. But he warned that Ford’s continued refusal to speak to union leaders who represent more Ontario public and para-public workers than any other would result in the fight of a lifetime – and the Premier would come out on the short end.
