UPDATE: November 5, 2023:

After months of bargaining, NOSM University faculty, librarians and professional staff have reached a tentative agreement with their employer with significant improvements and no concessions, averting a potential strike that was hours away. They are represented by the NOSM University Faculty and Staff Association (NUFSA) and are members of OPSEU/SEFPO Local 677.

With a 100% strike vote from their members, the negotiating team achieved solid wage and benefit increases, improvements to their working conditions and equity provisions, and avoided concessions.

Members of NUFSA – OPSEU/SEFPO Local 677 will receive the particulars and vote on the tentative agreement in a ratification vote held on November 8, 2023.

Details about the agreement will be made publicly available after the ratification vote.

Strike countdown at NOSM U: Join the picket line on Monday!

Negotiations at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U) are getting down to the wire. Faculty and professional staff members there are counting down to a strike deadline on Monday, November 6.

We all know the North needs doctors – and our members at NOSM U are the ones who do the vital work of training them. Unless a deal is reached in the next couple of days, members of NOSM U Faculty and Staff Association (NUFSA), part of OPSEU/SEFPO Local 677, will be walking the picket line on Monday morning at both their Sudbury and Thunder Bay campuses.

Stay tuned for updates this weekend!
