Toronto  – Mediated talks between OPSEU/SEFPO and LifeLabs failed to produce a settlement to end a strike that has lasted nearly two weeks.

No new talks are scheduled.

Members of Local 5119 will be reporting for their picket line duties on Friday as previously planned.

OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas says the Union will continue to provide full support to the members as they fight for a living wage.

“Their fight is our fight, and we are backing them all the way,” said Thomas. “LifeLabs is a wealthy corporation and can afford to pay their workers a living wage.  It’s ridiculous that any employer should expect their staff to live in the Greater Toronto Area on $36,000 dollars a year.”
