Strike by safety inspectors continues to make headlines

Strike for safety

The strike by safety inspectors represented by OPSEU/SEFPO continues to make headlines.  A story by The Canadian Press on the strike has appeared in a number of media outlets including the National Post, CTV and City News.

CP quotes OPSEU/SEFPO Local 546 bargaining member Cory Knipe as saying: “The supervisors have not been out on the road for a while, they normally do office work more than anything. The (union) inspectors, that is their everyday job, where we go out there, we’re checking the nuts and the bolts and what comes loose.”

Blog TO is also reporting that the CNE will not be getting the usual safety inspections this year, telling readers: “you should be aware of some changes to the safety inspections process this year, which apparently won’t be the same as usual.”

Knipe appeared on Ottawa’s 580 CFRA Tuesday morning to talk about the strike
