Food service workers at St. Clair College have reached a tentative three-year agreement just days before the holidays. A ratification vote will be held on Friday, December 28th.

"This is good news for Windsor," said OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "These workers have fought hard for respect in their workplace. And that is something that this community needs and deserves."

Ratification of this agreement would end the possibility of strike action in January.

"The bargaining team is happy to recommend this agreement to our members," said OPSEU Negotiator, Marisa Forsyth. "We would also like to thank all the hundreds of staff, students and community members who have shown their support."

All of the 22 food service workers at St. Clair College are women. They work for a privatized operation, Compass / Chartwells, not the college itself. The company is one of Canada's largest food services providers.

A key issue during bargaining was wage parity with food service workers at Huron College in London.
