More hospital professionals have voted to join OPSEU/SEFPO.
The nearly 100 medical radiation technologists and diagnostic medical sonographers at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket and Keswick have joined OPSEU/SEFPO to get a stronger voice in the workplace and more transparency from management.
“To our newest members at Southlake, I’d like to thank you for all the hard work I know you’ve been doing,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick. “I know you’re hurting. I know you’re struggling. And I know that by working together with all of us at OPSEU/SEFPO, you’ll have the strength and solidarity to make your work better and safer.”
OPSEU/SEFPO now represents close to 25,000 Hospital Professionals at nearly 100 hospitals across the province. Along with the Southlake Diagnostic Imagining Professionals, Respiratory Therapists in Cambridge, Hospital Professionals in Kirkland Lake, and Biomedical Technologists in Hamilton have all recently voted to join OPSEU/SEFPO.
“It’s never been a more difficult or dangerous time to offer professional hospital care and expertise. But with each new member, we’re all stronger,” said Sara Labelle, the chair of the OPSEU/SEFPO Hospital Professionals Division. “On behalf of the entire divisional executive, I’d like to say welcome and congratulations to our new members from Southlake.”
“All 180,000 members of OPSEU/SEFPO see the incredible value of a strong public hospital system staffed by caring and capable public sector workers,” said OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer Laurie Nancekevill. “That’s why we’re so pleased when new members like the Southlake Hospital Professionals join with us, and it’s why we’re so confident that we’ll be able to protect and strengthen all hospital care in the province.”
