As members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community within OPSEU/SEFPO, we stand in solidarity with the Coalition of Racialized Workers’ statement supporting Palestinian liberation and condemning settler colonialism. The struggles of the Palestinian people reflect broader fights against oppression and marginalization, principles deeply resonant within the 2SLGBTQIA+community.
Our commitment to social justice, equity, and human rights mandates our unequivocal support for all marginalized communities facing systemic injustices, including those in Palestine.
We recognize that the road to liberation for all oppressed peoples is interconnected. The liberation of the Palestinian people is inherently linked to the global fight for 2SLGBTQIA+rights, as oppression anywhere threatens freedom everywhere. We advocate for a cease-fire and an end to all forms of colonial oppression and violence. Furthermore, we commit to using our platforms within OPSEU/SEFPO to educate and mobilize around these issues, ensuring that our advocacy is inclusive and supportive of the most vulnerable among us.
In solidarity with our Palestinian brothers, sisters, and non-binary kin, we call upon our union and its members to not only support a permanent ceasefire and humanitarian aid but also to engage actively in dialogue and action that fosters a sustainable and just peace. We urge our community to remember that in our shared fight for dignity and respect, we must always lift as we climb, amplifying voices that are too often silenced.
Let us move forward together, with courage and unwavering support, as we advocate for a world where every individual—regardless of nationality, race, or sexual orientation and gender identity—can live with dignity and peace.
