It’s important to remember that some of our frontline health care workers do most of their work behind the scenes. So that’s why this week – National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week – is so important in recognizing and appreciating the significant role they play in our health and wellbeing.
Medical lab professionals are a large group of health care workers who have dedicated their lives to helping doctors diagnose disease. Their expertise in testing and analyzing what is going on in our bodies is critical in monitoring our health and getting the treatments we need.
OPSEU has a proud history of representing medical lab professionals since the 1970’s. They were among the earliest groups of workers outside of the Ontario Public Service to join our union.
Today, we represent thousands of medical lab professionals from across the province. And over the past year OPSEU has welcomed even more medical lab professionals into our union – the newest group from southwestern Ontario stretches from Windsor to Stratford.
National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week runs from April 21st to the 27th. Let us all take some time to acknowledge these unsung heroes of our health care system.
