RSI Awareness Day February 28, 2018: Health and Dignity for All
Publication DateFriday, February 23, 2018 - 12:45pm
Work should not hurt. Join us in Toronto on February 28, 2018 for the 19th Annual Repetitive Strain Injury Awareness Day event. You will hear from injured workers and experts and we will strategize to prevent and compensate repetitive strain injuries suffered at work. OPSEU is proud to be part of this day that was started in the year 2000 by injured worker Catherine Fenech who wanted to raise awareness and inspire action to prevent these debilitating injuries.
RSI or Repetitive Strain Injury accounts for over 46 per cent of all workplace loss time injuries. It is a shocking statistic, yet year after year workers throughout Ontario in workplaces large and small, public and private, continue to sustain these preventable, disabling and often chronic injuries.
The first step in prevention is awareness. That is why gathering together to learn and strategize is critical. If you are a worker in Ontario, a health and safety or social activist, or simply a concerned citizen in the Toronto area, please plan on attending on February 28th.
Registration is free and easy. Just email: email@example.com by Monday February 26th, to reserve seating and a complimentary lunch. The conference is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am and includes informative panel discussions and recognized experts on accommodation, compensation, worker rights and the latest research on prevention. Wrap-up is planned for 4 pm.
Health and Dignity is the theme of this year’s RSI Day Conference. Everyone, whether in the workplace or in the community, deserves to enjoy the fundamental right to a physically and mentally healthy environment. By uniting to eliminate hazards, we work to provide that environment. Together we can promote basic dignity and humanity for all.
The event will be an excellent opportunity to network with injured workers, allies, unions, and other community based collectives and organizations. Together we will build a broader, more powerful coalition to fight the many injustices that we face. Join us at 31 Wellesley Street East (across from the Wellesley subway station).
The RSI Awareness Day event is sponsored by: Injured Workers’ Consultants (IWC), Ontario Public Service Employees’ Union (OPSEU), UNIFOR, and the United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW)
