Your bargaining team is recommending you vote “YES”
Over the next two days, you will be voting to ratify the tentative deal that has been reached with the LCBO. This deal was only possible because of the hard work of LBED members, and the support of members, leadership, and staff across OPSEU. Your bargaining team has unanimously endorsed the deal, and is recommending members vote “YES” on July 18-19. You can find voting locations here.
You will have two options when you cast your vote, and you should be aware of the effect of each option.
By voting “YES,” you will approve a deal that will lock in the gains that were made at the table through the work of your bargaining team, your mobilizers, and LCBO members across Ontario.
On the other hand, if the majority of members vote “NO,” the deal will be rejected and all OPSEU members at the LCBO will be on strike at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, July 20. If the deal is turned down, there is no guarantee any of the gains made in this tentative agreement will still be available in a future agreement.
To help you with this important decision, there is information about the deal available on our website at www.opseu.org/LBEDbargaining.
In last week’s bargaining bulletin, you can find highlights of the gains that have been made in this deal. In the ratification vote Q&A, you can find answers to some of the most common questions that have been sent in by members. And if you want a full overview of what’s in the deal, you can find it in Issue 19 of the bargaining bulletin, which also has a link to the full Memorandum of Settlement.
Ballot question
On Tuesday, July 18 and Wednesday, July 19, you will have your chance to vote on the deal. The ballot options will be:
- Yes, I accept the tentative agreement.
- No, I reject the tentative agreement, and go on strike.
