Rally for Health Care with OPSEU and the Ontario Health Coalition

The Ontario Health Coalition (OHC) is hosting a Giant Health Care Rally at Queen's Park on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

OPSEU will be there! Join us - and tell the Ford government to STOP health care privatization and cuts!

OPSEU Pre-Rally and March

Join OPSEU President Smokey Thomas and your OPSEU sisters and brothers at a pre-rally at 11:45 a.m. Then we'll march together to Queen's Park and join concerned citizens, health care workers from across the province, and the broader labour movement at the OHC's giant rally there!

When:

Show up between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. for the OPSEU Pre-Rally

Where:

In front of the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (University Health Network)
585 University Avenue, Toronto
(Closest Intersection: University Ave. and Gerrard St. W. TTC: Queen's Park Station)

March:

March to Queen's Park right after the pre-rally (approx. 500 metres north, 5-10 minutes)

Get on the bus!

Various OPSEU regions are organizing buses to the rally. This list will be updated as more information is received. Please contact your Executive Board Members to find out if there is transportation being arranged near you. The Ontario Health Coalition also has a list of buses - click here for their list.

Region 1:

OPSEU Region 1 is sending two buses to the rally. Please note that to reserve your space on one of these buses you must contact Regional Vice President Len Elliott (lenelliott@rogers.com), or Executive Board Members Laurie Nancekivell (laurieopseu@gmail.com) or Phillip Shearer (pmshearer@rogers.com).

London bus:

8:00 a.m. - Boarding begins at OPSEU London Regional Office, 1092 Dearness Ave., London
8:30 a.m. - Departure from OPSEU London Regional Office
9:15 a.m. - Stop and Pick Up in Woodstock at the parking lot behind Days Inn at Juliana Drive and Bruin Blvd.

Windsor bus:

6:00 a.m. - Boarding begins at OPSEU Windsor Regional Office, 3005 Marentette Ave., Windsor
6:30 a.m. - Departure from OPSEU Windsor Regional Office
7:30 a.m. - Pick-up at 21633 Communications Road in Blenheim (Chatham), just south of Hwy 401.
8:30 a.m. - Stop for food and pick-up at OPSEU London Regional Office, 1092 Dearness Drive.

Both buses will drop everyone off at Queen's Park in Toronto at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Departure from Queen's Park at approximately 1:30 p.m. for both buses (delay is possible due to number of buses departing at that time.)

Region 2:

OPSEU Region 2 is arranging buses to the rally. Please contact Regional Vice President Lucy Morton at lucyamorton@rogers.com or Executive Board Member Drew Finucane at opseu_local219@live.ca to reserve your space on a bus. Please be sure to include your location and your phone number in your email.

Peterborough/Lindsay bus:

9:45 a.m. - OPSEU Office, 1840 Lansdowne St. W., Peterborough
10:15 a.m. - Carpool lot, Hwy 115 and 35
11:45 a.m. - Drop off for rally at Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, 585 University Ave. Toronto
1:30 p.m. - Pick up at Queen's Park for return trip
3:30 p.m. - Arrival at carpool lot, Highway 115 and 35
4:00 p.m. - Arrival in Peterborough

Cobourg/Oshawa/Ajax bus:

9:45 a.m. - Northumberland Mall, 111 Elgin St. W., Cobourg
10:30 a.m. - Oshawa Centre (by Sears), 419 King St. W., Oshawa
10:45 a.m. - Ajax Costco, 150 Kingston Rd. E., Ajax
11:00 a.m. - Drop off for rally at Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, 585 University Ave. Toronto
1:30 p.m. - Pick up at Queen's Park for return trip
2:30 p.m. - Arrival at Ajax Costco
2:45 p.m. - Arrival at Sears, Oshawa Centre
3:30 p.m. - Arrival at Northumberland Mall

Penetanguishene/Orillia/Barrie bus:

9:15 a.m. - Penetanguishene Legion, 2 Poyntz St., Penetanguishene
10:00 a.m. - OPSEU Regional Office, 76 Coldwater Street, Orillia
10:30 a.m. - Walmart, 29 Mapleview Drive West, Barrie
11:45 a.m. - Drop off for rally at Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, 585 University Avenue, Toronto
1:30 p.m. - Pick up at Queen's Park for return trip

Region 4

OPSEU Region 4 (Eastern Ontario) is arranging buses to the rally. Please contact Regional Vice President Chrisy Tremblay at chrisy.tremblay@hotmail.com for pick up locations and to reserve your space.

Region 5

OPSEU Region 5 (Toronto) is sponsoring two buses to the rally. Seats are available to OPSEU members and community members on both buses. Please email opseuregion5ebms@gmail.com with your name, OPSEU local #, email address, cell phone number and pick up location to book your seat on one of the following buses:
