OPSEU/SEFPO is honoured to welcome our newest members from Planned Parenthood Toronto.

These workers devote their working lives to protecting Toronto’s most vulnerable youth, by providing primary health care, gender-affirming care, mental health services and sexual health services, including abortion care.

“Planned Parenthood staff provide vital health care services in the community, including services that have increasingly come under attack,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick. “Despite the heavy emotional toll and ever-growing workload, they aren’t getting the support or respect they deserve from their employer. With OPSEU/SEFPO, they will get the support they need to achieve the contract they deserve.”

These workers are fighting for better job security, more full-time permanent positions and stable employment, more reasonable workload, and improved pay and benefits.

“We’re thrilled to welcome our newest members to the OPSEU/SEFPO Community Health Care Professionals Sector,” said Sector Chair Lucy Morton. “By joining OPSEU/SEFPO, you are tapping into networks of solidarity and support to achieve a stronger voice in your workplace, and to build strength within our union.”

The newest members will join Local 5115, which includes community health care professionals from Regent Park Community Health Centre, Inner City Family Health Team, and Anishnawbe Health Toronto.

Staff at Planned Parenthood Toronto include Case Coordinators, Clinic Receptionist/Front Desk Support Workers, Development Coordinator, Health Promoters, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Secretaries, Program Coordinators for the Health Services Peer Education Program, the Non-Binary BIPOC drop-in program, Post Abortion Support, the Teens Educating and Confronting Homophobia (TEACH) program, and the Teen Program, Registered Nurses, Relief Workers for the Teen Health Source program, Therapists and Volunteer Support Workers for the TEACH program.
